Flynas Soars to New Heights with Record Passenger Numbers in 2023

Expansion and Innovation Catapult Middle Eastern Airline to Global Recognition

In a remarkable show of growth, flynas, recognized as a leading low-cost carrier (LCC) in both the Middle East and globally, has announced a record-breaking performance for the year 2023. The airline has seen a substantial 28% surge in its passenger numbers, soaring past the 11 million mark.

Demonstrating an aggressive pursuit of expansion, flynas incorporated 19 new aircraft into its fleet last year, bringing the total to 64—a notable increase of over 35%. This fleet expansion is a strategic move, aligning with the company’s commitment under the banner “We Connect the World to the Kingdom” to enhance connectivity and grow its operations.

The airline’s ambitious growth strategy also led to the launch of 57 new routes, including destinations in 10 different countries. Additionally, flynas inaugurated a new operations base at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah and upped its seat capacity by 22% across both domestic and international flights.

On the occasion of these achievements, flynas CEO and Managing Director, Bander Almohanna, expressed pride in the airline’s performance, attributing its success to a robust business model, the team’s dedicated efforts, and the effective execution of their strategic plans. “Our continuous investment in fleet enhancement and route expansion has solidified our standing in the industry and has led to our advancement in the Skytrax rankings,” Almohanna stated, referencing the airline’s position among the top four LCCs worldwide and its status as the best in the Middle East.

flynas has initiated several new services and products, aiming to provide a unique travel experience, with innovative solutions and technologies that align with the airline’s strategic objectives. These endeavors are in concert with the Pilgrims Experience Program and the National Civil Aviation Strategy, which aspire to augment the Kingdom’s connectivity to international destinations and to foster the tourism sector.

Almohanna also highlighted the airline’s fleet size doubling in under two years and the significant agreement with Airbus for 30 new A320neo aircraft, part of a larger 120-aircraft order with the potential to expand to 250 planes, emphasizing the airline’s commitment to growth.

As the Kingdom’s economy flourishes, flynas is set to continue its expansion into new markets, with announcements expected in the first quarter of 2024. This growth is supported by the Saudi Vision 2030 programs, enhancing various sectors, particularly tourism and travel.

flynas’ exceptional year was crowned with international accolades, including the Skytrax International Award as the 4th Best LCC worldwide and the Best Low-cost Airline in the Middle East for the sixth consecutive year. The carrier also clinched the Best Low-cost Airline Award in the Middle East from the World Travel Awards for the ninth successive year.
