The inaugural consignment of Jazan mangoes, totaling 24 tons, embarked on its journey to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. This significant step emerges from a previously established agreement with Jordanian counterparts, aiming to introduce the region’s bountiful produce, including not just mangoes, but also papayas and watermelons, into new markets.
In a synergistic collaboration, the Cooperative Society for Agricultural Marketing (Alrowia) and the Jazan Development and Investment Company (JAZADCO) are at the helm of this operation. Their joint efforts ensure that the mangoes are meticulously cleaned, sterilized, and packaged, adhering to the most stringent international protocols.
Alrowia’s ambitious plan is to gradually dispatch over 30 shipments, each carrying 24 tons of Jazan mangoes. This initiative is poised to bolster the local agricultural community by providing an avenue for farmers to distribute their harvests both within the Kingdom’s extensive markets and beyond, to various adjacent nations.
