The commercial aviation sector in Jeddah has recently seen remarkable activity as King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA), managed by the Jeddah Airports Company (JEDCO), reported exceptional operational performance during the dense Umrah season which aligns with Ramadan and continues until the 9th of Shawwal.
During this bustling period, JEDCO introduced several improvements aimed at streamlining the flow of pilgrims through the airport, significantly reducing their waiting times. These enhancements paid off, as evidenced by the impressive figures released. KAIA successfully facilitated the travel of 5.38 million passengers across 32,200 flights, while efficiently handling around 5.3 million bags and processing an impressive 47,000 tons of freight.
One notable achievement highlighted in the report was the record-breaking day on the 20th of Ramadan, where KAIA witnessed an operational zenith, serving an estimated 160,000 passengers in a single day—a historic milestone for the airport.
Mazen Johar, the CEO of Jeddah Airports Company, extended his gratitude towards the entire workforce for their dedicated service during the peak season. The collective efforts of the airport staff were instrumental in achieving these outstanding outcomes.
