The prestigious King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSH&RC) has recently been honored with five research grants as part of an initiative aimed at reactivating and upgrading existing laboratories. This initiative is steered by the Research, Development and Innovation Authority with a goal to energize local research efforts, forge a significant economic impact, and support the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 objectives. In an event graced by key figures such as the Minister of Communications & Information Technology and the Chairman of the Research Development and Innovation Authority Eng. Abdullah Alswaha, as well as the Minister of Education Yousef bin Abdullah Al-benyan, the grants were announced. The ceremony was also attended by Dr. Mohammed Al-Otaibi, the General Supervisor of the Authority, alongside leaders from various authorities, universities, and research institutions.
The grants were awarded to a selection of noteworthy projects, including the advancement of nuclear molecular imaging, reactivation of the genetics lab, enhancement of the confocal microscopy and imaging core facility, the establishment of a preclinical in-vivo imaging and diagnostic research laboratory, and the creation of a single-cell genome sequencing facility.
These grants are set to propel KFSH&RC into scientific prominence by infusing its laboratories with cutting-edge technology. The investments will pave the way for improved research quality, increased scientific publications and collaborations, the generation of economically beneficial patents, and the development of innovative solutions to pressing healthcare challenges.
