Marriott International has forged a new agreement to introduce its Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy brand to the opulent island retreat of Sindalah, situated on the Red Sea off the northwest coast of Saudi Arabia.
Targeting a 2024 opening, Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy will offer guests premium and luxurious apartment-style lodgings. The accommodations will range from studio apartments to spacious one, two, and three-bedroom options. Each unit will boast a separate living area, fully equipped kitchen, and convenient in-unit laundry facilities.
In addition to the comfortable living quarters, the property will cater to guests’ fitness and relaxation needs with an inclusive fitness center and a swimming pool.
This venture represents the fourth collaborative effort between NEOM and Marriott International on the luxury island, which is also set to feature two Luxury Collection properties and one Autograph Collection Hotel.
One of the Luxury Collection resorts will provide guests with a beachfront experience, comprising 70 rooms and suites, each with their own private pool. The second Luxury Collection establishment will be an all-suite affair located centrally in the retail and marina district. Lastly, the Autograph Collection Hotel will house 66 rooms and suites, multiple dining options, and a spa.
Chadi Hauch, Marriott International’s Regional Vice President of Lodging Development for the Middle East, expressed enthusiasm for the project. “The introduction of our first Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy in the Middle East stems from the increased interest in premium and luxury apartment-style accommodations among travelers. Sindalah is set to offer our guests and members memorable year-round travel experiences,” he said.
Chris Newman, NEOM Hotel Division’s Executive Director, also commented on the partnership, highlighting the new brand’s contribution to enhancing the experience for travel groups.
Sindalah is poised to be NEOM’s pioneer island development, featuring an 86-berth marina, over 400 high-end hotel rooms, 300 luxury suites, an exclusive beach club, a yacht club, and a golf course offering two distinct nine-hole layouts. Furthermore, the island will boast 51 luxury retail stores and 38 gourmet dining venues.
Antoni Vives, NEOM’s Chief Urban Planning and Islands Officer, shared his pride in bringing the first Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy to the Middle East. He emphasized the brand’s alignment with the island’s luxury offerings, including proximity to upscale dining and fashion.
Marriott is not the only hospitality giant investing in Sindalah; Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts has also announced plans for a new resort on the island. The planned Four Seasons establishment will feature 225 rooms and suites with terraces offering Red Sea vistas, in addition to 52 villas ranging from one to four bedrooms, complete with plunge pools and beachfront views.
