Portuguese small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) recently made a strong impression in the Middle East, showcasing the vitality and innovation of Portugal’s business sector. Entrepreneurs from a range of industries demonstrated their expertise and adaptability, forging new connections with Saudi partners and highlighting the country’s export potential.

Among the standouts was ACO Shoes, a family-run footwear business celebrating five decades of operation, known for its technical expertise and openness to new markets. Givachoice Texteis, led by a dynamic young entrepreneur, reinforced Portugal’s reputation for high-quality textiles, while Artnovion impressed attendees with its advanced acoustic engineering projects, including work for the Belgian Parliament.

Gema, recognized for its proactive approach, arrived early to participate in a major trade forum, illustrating the value Portuguese companies place on personal relationships and cultural understanding in business. S4Digital, a Lisbon-based tech firm with global reach, also demonstrated the Portuguese knack for building strong international partnerships.

In the engineering sector, Redemaior Engenharia and Projedomus from Coimbra presented innovative solutions for industrial and smart buildings, drawing interest for their specialized expertise. Atlantic Premium Capital Partners introduced cutting-edge wastewater recycling technology, aiming to address Saudi Arabia’s water challenges and planning to establish local production.

All participating companies exemplified Portugal’s entrepreneurial spirit, combining hard work, dedication, and passion. The event also highlighted the importance of innovation and sustainability, with sectors like renewable energy, digital technology, and the circular economy emerging as key areas for future growth.

The mission was supported by leaders from both the Portuguese and Saudi business councils, whose hospitality and collaboration were crucial to its success. Personal connections made during the trip, as well as exposure to major real estate developments in Riyadh and Jeddah, provided valuable insights and inspiration for future business opportunities.

This successful initiative underlines how Portuguese SMEs are expanding their global footprint, driven by a commitment to quality, innovation, and strong international relationships.
