Saudi Arabia Boosts Entertainment Startups

GEA's Accelerator Program Drives Innovation and Growth

Saudi Arabia is poised for growth in its entertainment sector, driven by initiatives to support 32 startups and foster innovation. The General Entertainment Authority (GEA) has introduced the third edition of its accelerator program, which provides consulting, mentorship, and international exposure to participating startups.

This program will support two groups of 16 businesses each, offering 192 hours of expert guidance, co-working spaces, and international trips to explore global market trends. By 2030, the entertainment sector is expected to create 450,000 jobs and contribute 4.2% to the nation’s GDP, enhancing the ecosystem and attracting investment.

The initial accelerator, launched in 2023, selected 14 projects after a thorough process, offering workshops, mentorship, and investor access. The second edition continued these efforts, aiding startups in navigating the expanding market.

GEA aims to position Saudi Arabia as a regional entertainment hub, with the initiative running for 10 months, aligning with Vision 2030 goals. The first cohort began with 260 registrations, narrowing down to 14 approved projects through a selective process.

Participants underwent intensive training, including workshops, consulting sessions, and interactions with industry experts to prepare for investor pitches. In June 2023, GEA hosted sessions with prominent speakers and consultants to further guide entrepreneurs.

Following the success of the first accelerator, GEA launched the second Entertainment Business Accelerator in July 2023, continuing its commitment to creating a supportive environment for startups in the entertainment sector.
