Saudi Arabia Boosts Logistics with New Park at King Abdulaziz Port

Major Investment to Elevate Dammam as a Global Logistics Hub

In a significant development for the business media sector, the Saudi Ports Authority, known as Mawani, alongside MELDOG, the logistics division of Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), has initiated the construction of a state-of-the-art Logistics Park at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam. This project represents an investment of more than SAR150 million and is endorsed by the Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistic Services, Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser.

Omar Hariri, the President of Mawani, highlighted that the establishment of the Logistics Park aligns with the authority’s strategic goal to foster a robust and sustainable maritime sector. This development is expected to contribute significantly to the nation’s socioeconomic growth and is in accordance with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS). The strategy aims to transform the Kingdom into a pivotal logistics hub bridging three major continents. Mawani’s strategy includes plans to increase the number of logistics parks and re-export centers to 30, thereby bolstering the private sector’s role in economic development.

The strategic location of the new Logistics Park near Jubail Industrial City and key urban centers in the Eastern Region, positions it as an integral player in the logistics sector. The park is designed to streamline logistics operations, deliver comprehensive services, and facilitate transportation between various regions of the Kingdom. It further aims to meet the local market’s demand for efficient goods transportation and handling with enhanced operational capabilities.

Spanning 100,000 square meters, the Logistics Park boasts an annual capacity of 300,000 TEUs, signifying its role in advancing shipping connectivity and the quality of global logistics services. It is set to improve the service standards for both local and international customers throughout the Kingdom.

The establishment of the Logistics Park is anticipated to fortify the competitive edge of Dammam’s King Abdulaziz Port and MEDLOG. It focuses on delivering premier logistics services, thereby amplifying the private sector’s contribution to economic progression and diversification.
