Saudi Arabia Unveils Tech-Driven Port Community System

Mawani's PCS Elevates Saudi Logistics to Global Stage

The Saudi Ports Authority, Mawani, has introduced a groundbreaking initiative, the Port Community System (PCS), under the integrated logistics program ‘Logisti’. This ambitious project is set to offer over 250 electronic services at Mawani’s Saudi ports, positioning the Kingdom squarely on the international logistics service map.

Omar Hariri, the President of Mawani, announced that the PCS demonstrates the authority’s commitment to leveraging technology to revolutionize the maritime transport sector, streamline operations, and bolster the efficiency of the nationwide port network. This integration is expected to advance logistical services and maritime transport.

The PCS is not only a technological leap but also a developmental milestone aimed at reaching shared economic and social objectives. It establishes a unified digital platform that aligns with top global standards, centralizing administrative interactions between public and private sector entities.

Launched at the third edition of the ‘LEAP24’ International Technical Conference, the PCS is designed to automate port operations, foster seamless data exchange across sectors, harmonize practices within Saudi ports, and refine the interactions between government users and service providers.

The system is also projected to enhance stakeholder experiences, support the objectives of the ‘Smart Ports’ initiative, improve operational service efficiency, and boost the competitiveness and productivity of the maritime transport sector. These advancements are in line with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS), aimed at establishing Saudi Arabia as a pivotal global logistics hub, as envisioned in Saudi Vision 2030.

The ‘LEAP24’ conference serves as a unique gathering of tech innovators and investors, reinforcing the Kingdom’s prominence in technology and attracting worldwide attention as a leading event.

In early 2022, Mawani set in motion the ‘Smart Ports’ initiative aimed at fostering a thriving digital economy by harnessing fifth-generation technologies in the logistics arena. This move is intended to position Saudi ports as frontrunners in adopting cutting-edge technologies, enhancing their regional and international competitiveness in trade, and serving the needs of importers and exporters.
