Saudi Arabia’s Bahri Unveils New Logistics Hub at Jeddah Islamic Port

State-of-the-Art Bahri Logistics Center Set to Boost Global Trade

The foundation for Bahri Logistics Center, a project of the National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri), was officially set at the Jeddah Islamic Port. A press statement by the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) disclosed that the facility will span an impressive 95,436 square meters and be operated by Bahri, featuring a range of storage solutions, including temperature-controlled zones, handling services, and additional value-adding services, positioning it as a strategic hub for multinational companies.

Key figures such as the Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and Chairman of Mawani, Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser; President of Mawani, Omar Hariri; and CEO of Bahri, Eng. Ahmed Ali Al-Subaey, were present at the cornerstone ceremony. Hariri highlighted that the establishment of the Bahri Logistics Center is integral to Mawani’s strategy to enhance the maritime logistics sector, aligning with the National Transportation and Logistics Strategy (NTLS).

Eng. Al-Subaey exhibited his excitement about collaborating with Mawani and the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) to develop this advanced logistics facility. He accentuated that the center will be a significant influencer in the logistics sectors at national, regional, and international levels.

‘Beyond enhancing our capabilities and positioning us favorably in the global logistics sector, the Bahri Logistics Center will allow us to capitalize on new opportunities, substantially enriching our role in elevating Saudi Arabia’s status as a global logistics hub,’ Eng. Al-Subaey remarked.

The project is a testament to Mawani’s dedication to bolstering Saudi Arabia’s logistics infrastructure, a move that resonates with the economic diversification goals and the push for increasing non-oil exports as envisioned in the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. The logistics center, anticipated to commence operations in early 2025, will boast over 80,000 pallet positions, 40,000 shelving units, and is expected to handle more than 900,000 pallets annually.

Furthermore, the facility will accommodate reefer, insulated, and dry containers, alongside a suite of services for its clients, including container maintenance and repair, cleaning, bonded storage, and haulage services.
