Saudi Arabia’s Decarbonization Vision Gains Momentum

Japanese Firm Backs Saudi Green Energy Shift

Atsushi Suzuki, the lead executive of Marubeni Middle-East & Africa Power Limited, has expressed support for Saudi Arabia’s decarbonization agenda, highlighting it as a pivotal element for the nation’s future.

This is one of the most important steps for Saudi Arabia because, as you know, Saudi Arabia has a Vision 2030 to decarbonize and for the use of sustainable energy in the Kingdom, Suzuki remarked while discussing a wind farm initiative his company is involved in.

Representing a Japanese corporation, Suzuki noted the firm’s commitment to enhancing Saudi Arabia’s environmental goals. As a Japanese company we have provided good capabilities to support Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 project of becoming an eco-friendly country, he shared during an interaction with Arab News Japan. We believe this is a good step to a partnership between Japan and Saudi Arabia and will also result in Saudi Arabia becoming a big ‘new’ energy exporter not only of oil and gas, but also of new energy, green hydrogen for example.

Marubeni’s collaboration with various Saudi entities aims to strengthen its footprint within the Kingdom. We have already participated in five projects in the power sector in Saudi Arabia, so we will continue to deploy our capacity to make sure that the Saudi government, our client, will be satisfied, Suzuki explained.

The Saudi-Japan Vision 2030 Business Forum concluded on May 21, witnessing the convergence of over 300 professionals and industry leaders from both nations to foster commercial and cultural ties, as well as to expedite mutual growth and investment.

Saudi delegates at the forum discussed understanding the demands of Japanese markets, with a focus on investment, business, environmental sustainability, the circular economy, and softer sectors including entertainment and gaming.
