Saudi Delegation Engages in Trade Workshop in Vienna

Focus on Aligning KSA Commercial Laws with Global Standards

A group of approximately 30 officials from 20 Saudi government bodies are currently attending an intensive workshop in Vienna. The delegation is led by Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, the Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the National Competitiveness Center (NCC).

Organized by the NCC in partnership with the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), the workshop’s objective is to enhance cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the international legal trade framework. A critical aspect of this collaboration involves refining the commercial legal structure within the Kingdom to meet the highest international standards, an initiative that is expected to strengthen trade and support sustainable growth.

Notable participants include Dr. Eman bin Habbas Al-Mutairi, the Vice Minister of Commerce and CEO of NCC, Dr. Abdullah bin Khalid Tawlah, the Saudi Ambassador to Austria, and Anna Joubin-Bret, the Secretary-General of UNCITRAL.

The workshop’s program includes an in-depth examination of various aspects of global trade, such as trade systems, transport logistics, and e-commerce. The aim is to develop strategies that will enhance cross-border trade, with a particular focus on the digital economy, transportation, and logistics. These efforts are crucial for achieving the ambitious objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
