18th Joint Committee Session Bolsters Trade Ties

The 18th gathering of the Saudi-Egyptian Joint Committee wrapped up in Riyadh with a focus on enriching bilateral commerce. The session, led by Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Commerce and Egypt’s Minister of Industry and Trade, centered around the expansion of trade relations between the two nations.

During the discussions, the Saudi Minister emphasized the importance of nurturing ties with Egypt, highlighting efforts like mutual private sector exchanges and trade exhibitions aimed at increasing Saudi exports.

At the session’s end, the formal minutes outlining the follow-up on the committee’s recommendations were signed, marking a commitment to future collaboration.

The trade figures between the two countries were a testament to their growing economic partnership, reaching approximately $11.8 billion by November 2023. Metals and plastics dominated the export list to Egypt, while metal goods and fruits were the chief imports.

This latest session underscores the strategic intent to overcome business challenges and enhance cooperation through regular engagement and the diligent execution of agreed recommendations.
