The Saudi Ports Authority, known as Mawani, has recently unveiled the RGI service, a significant initiative by Unifeeder, designed to enhance the maritime trade network at Jeddah Islamic Port. This service establishes a direct maritime link between Saudi Arabia and key Indian ports, thereby facilitating trade and offering swift and reliable options for both exporters and importers.

Reflecting the confidence of investors in the Kingdom’s port infrastructure, the RGI service underscores Jeddah Islamic Port’s prominence as a top-tier destination for exports, imports, and re-export activities in the Red Sea region. With an impressive operating capacity of 130 million tons, and boasting 62 versatile berths, the port stands as the foremost re-export hub in the area.

The introduction of the RGI service enables a direct connection from Jeddah Islamic Port to important ports such as Mundra and Nhava Sheva in India, Jebel Ali in the UAE, and Sokhna in Egypt. These connections are maintained through consistent weekly sailings capable of handling up to 2,824 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units).

Concurrent with the launch of this new service, the North Container Terminal of Jeddah Islamic Port has seen the completion of extensive development projects, representing an investment of 6.6 billion Saudi Riyals. This upgrade significantly boosts the port’s operational efficiency, leveraging improved infrastructure to meet growing capacity demands and offering enhanced logistic services.

This strategic enhancement at Jeddah Islamic Port is in line with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS), which aims to elevate the Kingdom’s position as a pivotal global logistics hub, optimally positioned at the crossroads of three continents.
