Saudia and Riyadh Air Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement

Collaboration between national carriers to enhance guest benefits and optimize resources.

Saudia and Riyadh Air have recently signed a Strategic Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance their partnership and offer a comprehensive range of benefits for guests. This agreement includes a codeshare flight and signifies the growing aviation ecosystem in KDA.

The MOU, which is the first major agreement between the two airlines, will serve as the foundation for future cooperation. It will enable guests of both carriers to seamlessly connect between sectors operated by either airline through a comprehensive interline and codeshare agreement.

Members of each carrier’s loyalty program will also have the opportunity to earn points or credits when traveling on codeshare services operated by the other. Furthermore, a wider loyalty agreement is in the works, which will allow guests to accrue or redeem points and receive elite level benefits across both carrier’s global networks.

In addition to enhancing guest benefits, the strategic cooperation between Saudia and Riyadh Air aims to optimize routes and resources to provide a broader range of destinations and services. The partnership will also lead to synergies and efficiencies across various areas of the value chain, including commercial, digital development, aviation support services, and cargo/logistics.

Capt. Ibrahim Koshy, CEO of Saudia, expressed his excitement about the partnership and its alignment with the national aviation strategy and Kingdom’s objectives in tourism. He believes that the collaboration between Saudia and Riyadh Air will positively disrupt the industry.

Tony Douglas, CEO of Riyadh Air, emphasized the significance of the strategic collaboration and its role in the growth of travel tourism within the Kingdom. He believes that working together with Saudia will accelerate and manage this growth effectively.

Further details regarding the benefits for guests booking flights on Saudia or Riyadh Air will be announced, with Riyadh Air set to launch its operations in 2025.
