Saudi Arabia Urges Businesses to Pay Tax Bills or Face Fines

Saudi Arabia has issued a warning to businesses, urging them to pay their tax bills before the end of the month or face fines. The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has specifically called on commercial establishments with annual revenues exceeding SR40m ($10.7m) to submit their value-added tax (VAT) statements for October by November 30.

Failure to comply with this deadline will result in hefty fines. To avoid penalties ranging from a minimum of 5% to a maximum of 25% of the tax value owed, ZATCA has advised these establishments to submit their tax statements via the zatca.gov.sa website or pay through the ZATCA smartphone application.

ZATCA has provided various channels for businesses to seek further information on VAT:

VAT is an indirect tax applied to all goods and services purchased and sold by most establishments, with a few exceptions.
