Saudi Arabia Completes Financial Aid Tranche to Jordan

Final Segment of Multi-Year Grant Aids Jordan's Budget

In a significant financial development, the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Amman, in collaboration with Jordan’s Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, has announced the disbursement of the concluding portion of a multi-year financial assistance package to Jordan. This final installment amounts to $38.6 million.

The disbursement is the last part of the fifth installment under the terms of a grant agreement, which pledged a total of SR250 million over five years, from 2018 to 2022. This financial support initiative was one of the outcomes of the Makkah summit agreements reached in 2018.

Zenina Toukan, Jordan’s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, received the Saudi delegation, led by Ambassador Nayef Al-Sudairi and Abdul Mohsen Al-Mutawa, Director of the General Department of International Development Cooperation at the Saudi Ministry of Finance. During the meeting, Toukan highlighted the strong bilateral ties between Saudi Arabia and Jordan, established by the leaders of both nations. She extended Jordan’s gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s unwavering developmental support, which has been instrumental in Jordan’s efforts to provide services to Syrian refugees and host communities.

Emphasizing the significance of the Saudi financial support, Toukan acknowledged its critical role in advancing Jordan’s developmental objectives. She expressed a keen desire to further enhance the relationship between the two countries for mutual benefit.

Ambassador Al-Sudairi reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting Jordan as part of the Makkah summit’s resolutions. He praised Jordan’s resilient and diverse economy, which, under King Abdullah II and Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II’s leadership, is poised for a promising future despite regional challenges.

Al-Sudairi noted Jordan’s economic strength and its ability to mitigate the negative impacts of regional instability, highlighting the nation’s capacity for sustained growth, construction, and production.
