Ivanhoe and Ma’aden’s Saudi Mineral Exploration

Discovering Copper with Advanced Typhoon Technology

Ivanhoe Electric Inc., in collaboration with Saudi Arabian Mining Company Ma’aden, has reported promising initial results from its joint venture exploration activities in Saudi Arabia. The focus is on the Umm Ad Dabah prospect, close to Ma’aden’s Al Amar mine, using Ivanhoe Electric’s advanced TyphoonTM geophysical technology.

The joint venture’s drilling efforts have intersected copper mineralization at significant depths in three holes, with the potential for further discoveries as exploration continues. The TyphoonTM system, known for its rapid and deep-penetrating surveys, has been instrumental in identifying new mineral zones.

Robert Friedland, Executive Chairman, emphasized the efficiency and precision of the technology-driven exploration, suggesting vast potential for discovering more resources across Saudi Arabia. Taylor Melvin, President and CEO, shared enthusiasm for the promising results, underscoring the joint venture’s capability to uncover new mineral sources.

The initial TyphoonTM survey covered 76 square kilometers, with subsequent surveys expanding the exploration area. The advanced data processing capabilities of Computational Geosciences Inc., a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Electric, have been pivotal, enabling rapid analysis and identification of drilling targets.

The exploration team has drilled over 5,490 meters, uncovering copper mineralization in several holes. The mineralization appears in semi-massive to massive forms within volcanic rocks, indicating a robust system extending significantly in depth and length.

Looking forward, the joint venture will continue its exploration efforts in the Al Amar district and other promising areas, with three TyphoonTM units actively operating in Saudi Arabia. This continued exploration is part of a broader strategy to unlock the mineral potential of the Arabian Shield.

In terms of technical operations, the joint venture maintains a rigorous quality assurance program, utilizing advanced assay techniques to ensure the accuracy of exploration results. The exploration activities are overseen by qualified professionals who verify the scientific and technical data involved.

Overall, Ivanhoe Electric’s collaboration with Ma’aden marks a significant step in advancing mineral exploration technologies and strategies, aiming to support the discovery of critical metals necessary for economic electrification and supply chain independence.
