Qiddiya City: The Future of Entertainment, Sports, and Culture in Saudi Arabia

Qiddiya, one of Saudi Arabia’s five giga projects, recently revealed the details of its ambitious development. The first phase of Qiddiya City will be dedicated to play and centered around entertainment, sports, and culture. Located near Riyadh, the city boasts stunning views of the Tuwaiq mountains. With attractions such as a gaming and esports district, a speed park track, golf courses, a water theme park, and Six Flags Qiddiya, Qiddiya City promises to be a one-of-a-kind destination. Construction is already underway with contracts worth SAR10 billion awarded.

Qiddiya City, spanning an area of 360 sq km, will eventually house over 600,000 residents and is expected to create more than 325,000 job opportunities. The city’s projected nominal GDP is SAR135 billion per annum. With an estimated 48 million visits per year, Qiddiya City is set to become a major tourist attraction.

The urban design for Qiddiya City and the brand were unveiled by Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC). Exciting experiences within the city will be launched in the coming months.

Qiddiya is a key component of the Saudi Vision 2030, aligning with Riyadh’s goal of becoming a global financial powerhouse. The city is part of a larger development plan that includes other giga projects such as Neom, Red Sea, Diriyah, and Roshn.

As part of Riyadh’s development plans, the city will also build the King Salman International mega airport. This airport, covering an area of approximately 57 sq km and featuring six parallel runways, aims to accommodate up to 120 million travelers by 2030.

In addition to Qiddiya, another noteworthy project in Riyadh is The New Murabba. Spread over 19 sq km, this development will offer a vast floor area of over 25 million sqm, including residential units, hotel rooms, and retail space.
