Huawei Cloud’s AI Innovations Boost Saudi Vision 2030

Huawei Cloud is leading technological advancements with innovative solutions tailored for Saudi Arabia and the Middle East. At the Huawei Cloud Summit Saudi Arabia 2024, the company unveiled significant AI initiatives to boost the nation’s digital transformation and support its Vision 2030 goals.

Jacqueline Shi, President of Huawei Cloud Global Marketing and Sales Service, highlighted AI’s critical role in transforming cloud services and accelerating digital change across industries. She introduced AI solutions like Pangu Models, ModelArts, and Ascend AI cloud services, emphasizing their importance in addressing complex industry challenges. These innovations include the first commercial Arabic large language model, aligning with Huawei Cloud’s broader strategy in AI-native storage, GaussDB, and digital human technologies.

Shi described data as the “new oil” driving industry innovation. Huawei Cloud’s GaussDB, a next-generation distributed cloud database, along with Data-AI convergence capabilities, aims to enhance data management and utilization, fostering growth and efficiency among clients in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia’s digital future is underpinned by policies such as Vision 2030 and the Cloud-First Strategy. Shi noted the rapid adoption of digital initiatives, termed “Saudi speed.” Huawei, with over two decades in the Kingdom, views it as a key market and is committed to supporting its digital transformation.

Roy Luo, Vice President of the Cloud Consulting Solution Sales Department at Huawei Cloud ME&CA, reported a 300% growth in public cloud services revenue in the region, with a tenfold increase in Saudi Arabia. Huawei Cloud has served over 300 customers and partnered with more than 200 sales partners nationwide, demonstrating its role in enterprise transformation.

At the summit, which hosted over 600 guests, Huawei showcased advancements in AI technologies and reaffirmed its commitment to local talent and enterprise support, positioning itself as a vital partner in Saudi Arabia’s economic diversification.

Steven Yi, President of Huawei Middle East and Central Asia, emphasized Huawei’s dedication to the region, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. He highlighted the company’s continuous innovation and digital talent cultivation efforts to accelerate the Kingdom’s digital transformation.

Jacqueline Shi also discussed Huawei Cloud’s alignment with Saudi Arabia’s data security policies, being the first cloud service provider fully compliant with government regulations. This commitment enhances data security and privacy, building trust and contributing to the local digital economy’s growth.

Alan Qi, President of Huawei Cloud Middle East & Central Asia, shared insights on the company’s success in Saudi Arabia, attributing it to innovative solutions and a customer-centric approach. Huawei Cloud serves diverse clients, including government ministries and top telecom carriers, supporting various sectors with AI-driven solutions.

In the government sector, Huawei Cloud is aiding the Saudi government in building a big data platform for efficient data sharing and developing an Arabic LLM supporting over 20 AI applications. In retail and e-commerce, Huawei Cloud empowers local companies and offers innovative digital banking solutions, enhancing competitiveness and cybersecurity.

Mark Chen, President of Huawei Cloud’s Global Solution Sales Department, emphasized the importance of AI-ready cloud infrastructure and the Pangu large model in various industries, from mining to medicine, significantly accelerating software development.

Huawei Cloud’s technological innovations support sectors like media, e-commerce, finance, telecommunications, and intelligent vehicles, driving business transformation and operational efficiency. The company has developed over 100 partners and trained more than 3,000 university students in ICT fields, fostering a prosperous local ecosystem.
