In the city of Hail, the deputy governor Adel bin Salih Al-Sheikh welcomed Italian academic Matteo Bersani on Thursday. Bersani, a professor at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) who suffered a spinal cord injury, is navigating through the Kingdom on a series of cutting-edge vehicles.
The purpose of Bersani’s tour is to shine a light on the challenges that individuals with disabilities encounter. Having undergone a life-altering car accident that injured his spinal cord, he now advocates for greater awareness and solutions to improve accessibility and support for people with disabilities.
His journey is set to traverse multiple areas within the Kingdom, demonstrating a variety of innovative technologies. These technologies are the fruit of the collective efforts of researchers and scientists from KAUST who are dedicated to developing new transportation methods.
