LG Electronics, a global leader in technology, has made a significant contribution to manufacturing in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia by transferring its advanced Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) production technology to the LG-Shaker factory. This move introduces a new chapter for the Saudi market, presenting an energy-efficient solution that meets the demands of modern infrastructure and aligns with the nation’s strategic Saudi Vision 2030 to enhance public service sectors.
At the core of the production line is the LG Multi V5, an air conditioning system utilizing VRF technology, which is rapidly gaining traction in the regional market. The Multi V5 is celebrated for its high efficiency, incorporating an innovative compressor with an oil level sensor and a heat exchanger capable of sensing temperature and humidity. The system is particularly suited for high-rise buildings, the hospitality sector, and large-scale projects due to its reliability, space-saving design, and energy-saving features. It also offers the versatility of connecting multiple indoor units to a single outdoor unit, as well as allowing for long piping lengths and high elevation setups.
Established in 2008 through a partnership between LG Electronics and Al Hassan Ghazi Ibrahim Shaker Co. (Shaker), the factory stands as a primary hub for AC manufacturing and exports its Saudi-made air conditioners to over 30 countries. It is one of 11 global factories that produce premium LG air conditioners. The factory’s commitment to innovation is evidenced not only in the adoption of VRF technology but also in its continual development of production lines, underscoring LG’s dedication to fostering local manufacturing and improving supply chain management within the region.
Employing state-of-the-art automation, the LG-Shaker factory leverages industrial robots and AI technology to enhance productivity and reduce costs. The facility supports local manufacturing by sourcing components from external providers and playing a crucial role in supplying advanced cooling solutions to major Saudi projects. Notable collaborations include providing the Multi V5 HVAC system for Mecca’s Mina project, which will deliver significant air conditioning capacity to the sacred camp sites.
The factory recently welcomed media representatives to demonstrate its technological advancements. LGE MEA CEO, Mr. Ilhwan Lee, expressed his enthusiasm for showcasing the factory’s capabilities and his gratitude towards the visitors. Similarly, Mohammed Ibrahim Abunayyan, CEO of Shaker Group, highlighted the partnership’s alignment with the Saudi Made initiative and Vision 2030, emphasizing the production of quality, eco-friendly technologies.
