AIM Initiative to Boost AI Ecosystem in Line with National Goals

The National Technology Development Program (NTDP) in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA), and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), has unveiled a strategic initiative known as AIM. This initiative is a significant step towards building an integrated artificial intelligence (AI) innovation network in Saudi Arabia, in adherence to the objectives outlined in Saudi Vision 2030.

AIM encompasses a series of ambitious features including an invigorating research environment, the enhancement of AI expertise, the attraction of investments, and the development of a domestic tech market. A notable goal of this initiative is the creation of over 25 AI linguistic models to serve the specific needs of various industries and government sectors. Additionally, it has set a target to train upwards of 1000 proficient engineers in the fields of machine learning and AI, thereby stimulating innovation and nurturing tech entrepreneurship.

The launch of the AIM initiative is a testament to the dedication of the NTDP and its partners in advancing the information technology sector within the Kingdom. It aims to amplify the national skillset and establish Saudi Arabia as a leading nation in the realm of AI innovation.
