Saudi Arabia Unveils Specialized Radio Network License

National Sectors to Benefit from 450 MHz Band Allocation

In a strategic move to bolster national industries, Saudi Arabia’s Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) has declared the issuance of the Specialized Radio Network License for the 450 MHz frequency band. This initiative is set to address the wireless communication requirements of various key sectors across the nation.

The CST has outlined that the allocation of the 450 MHz spectrum will facilitate the development of a specialized communications network of national scope. This network is poised to advance sectors such as Manufacturing, Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Tourism, Transport, and Logistics. By doing so, it will pave the way for the implementation of smart applications, the automation of operational procedures, and the employment of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions to improve connectivity, monitoring, and management capabilities.

The released document encompasses essential aspects including the qualifications for applicants, the framework for network deployment, the commitments expected, and the assessment criteria for applicants.

Entities interested in participating must submit their requests by the established deadline, which falls on Thursday, May 9th, 2024. The complete details of the Information Memorandum are available for review at the CST’s official portal.
