The Saudi Space Agency (SSA) has embarked on a strategic collaboration with NorthStar, an esteemed organization in the realm of Earth observation and analytical services. This joint venture is encapsulated in a memorandum of understanding (MoU) designed to amplify cooperation, pave the path for future ventures, and promote the reciprocal sharing of expertise in space situational awareness.
The official MoU signing ceremony was a highlight of the Space Debris Conference in Riyadh, with SSA’s CEO, Dr. Mohammed bin Saud Al-Tamimi, and NorthStar’s CEO, Stewart Bain, formalizing the agreement. This partnership is set to catalyze the expansion of the space sector within the Kingdom, as it includes a commitment to nurture research and development competencies and considers the establishment of a dedicated center for excellence in space situational awareness.
Furthermore, the alliance will concentrate on space traffic management, emphasizing research and the exploration of space sustainability, environmental impacts, and the implementation of cutting-edge sensor technologies. It also aims to delve into the potential of advanced data analytics.
