Toray Industries has launched a new technical center in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, through its subsidiary Toray Membrane Middle East LLC. The Middle East Water Treatment Technical Center (MEWTEC) is set up to provide advanced technological support for water treatment, covering everything from membrane products to full treatment systems.
This center addresses the rising demand for water solutions in the Middle East, Africa, and surrounding areas. It focuses on critical needs such as wastewater reuse and seawater desalination, aiming to support both industrial growth and urban infrastructure. By establishing MEWTEC, Toray plans to deliver tailored solutions more efficiently and strengthen partnerships across the region.
The initiative is part of Toray’s long-term sustainability strategy, supporting both its global sustainability vision for 2050 and its Vision 2030 for sustainable growth through advanced technology. Expanding its membrane technologies, especially reverse osmosis, Toray hopes to help ease water scarcity in rapidly growing, water-stressed areas.
Highlights of MEWTEC include:
- Advanced analysis: The center features modern tools for water quality and membrane assessment, enabling precise diagnostics and targeted improvements.
- Pilot-scale systems: On-site reverse osmosis equipment allows real-time testing and customization of solutions under real-world conditions.
- Hands-on training: A dedicated space offers operators and engineers direct access to Toray’s technologies and practical training.
- Collaboration platform: An open lab supports joint research with universities and industry partners, fostering innovation in water treatment.
This investment reinforces Toray’s leadership in water treatment and highlights its commitment to sustainable solutions in regions facing water shortages.
