Vision 2030 Progress: Saudi Arabia Surpasses Key Milestones

Saudi Arabia achieves Vision 2030 goals ahead of schedule, driving growth and transformation.

Saudi Arabia is making notable progress with its Vision 2030 initiative, surpassing many goals ahead of schedule. Vision 2030, launched in 2016, aims to diversify the economy beyond oil and enhance public services. Its phased approach has helped drive results, with most initiatives either completed or on track.

By the end of 2024, 85% of the 1,502 projects under Vision 2030 were completed or progressing as planned, and nearly all national indicators are meeting or exceeding targets. Remarkably, eight objectives were achieved six years early. Leadership credits these achievements to collective ambition and a commitment to accelerate further progress.

Tourism has seen significant growth, welcoming over 100 million visitors and surpassing its target years in advance. Initiatives such as expanded e-visa access and international campaigns have played a key role. Cultural milestones include multiple sites and traditions recognized by UNESCO, and the opening of a specialized arts college.

Economic reforms have strengthened the Public Investment Fund, tripling its assets, while the private sector now contributes nearly half of the GDP. Employment in small and medium businesses is up, and women’s participation in the workforce has more than doubled since 2017. Unemployment rates have reached target levels, and women hold a growing share of leadership roles.

Healthcare coverage and life expectancy are rising, with homeownership rates already above next year’s target. Environmental efforts include massive tree planting, land rehabilitation, and the launch of innovative green transport and water projects.

Saudi Arabia is also a leader in digital transformation, topping global rankings for internet use and technology adoption. The judicial system has largely gone digital, and major projects such as the Red Sea resorts and NEOM’s Sindalah Island are driving growth in tourism and infrastructure.

These advancements highlight Saudi Arabia’s determination to achieve its Vision 2030 goals, positioning the country for sustained growth and global leadership.
