The directors of Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC) have revealed plans to open Aquarabia, the first water theme park of its kind in Saudi Arabia and the largest in the region. Situated in Qiddiya City, Aquarabia aims to be a major draw with its array of twenty-two rides and attractions, including four world record-holders: the highest water coaster, the tallest drop body slide, the tallest water slide, and the longest mat racer. Additionally, it will feature the first underwater adventure ride with submersible vehicles.
Aquarabia is not just about record-breaking rides; it is also introducing an extreme watersports zone with activities like rafting, kayaking, canyoneering, free solo climbing, and cliff jumping. It will also boast the Kingdom’s first surf pool. The park’s design and attractions are inspired by ancient desert wellsprings and native wildlife, offering guests an immersive, narrative-driven experience.
In conjunction with Aquarabia, the Qiddiya City theme park offering includes Six Flags Qiddiya City, a park featuring twenty-eight rides and attractions across six themed lands, with five world record-breaking coasters. Qiddiya City promises a walkable neighborhood where visitors can effortlessly move between these exciting parks and enjoy a variety of hotels, dining options, and a lush green oasis for relaxation.
Abdullah Aldawood, Managing Director of QIC, emphasized the significance of these developments for Qiddiya City and the broader sectors of entertainment, tourism, and sports. These projects are expected to satisfy the growing demand for diverse entertainment and contribute to the economy by creating job opportunities.
Both Aquarabia and Six Flags Qiddiya City are slated to open in 2025 and are set to be the initial attractions available to visitors, in line with increasing local demand for immersive entertainment experiences. These attractions are integral to Qiddiya City’s strategy to provide entertainment, support local tourism, and create employment as part of the Saudi Vision 2030 initiative, which is anticipated to generate approximately 10,000 jobs.
Furthermore, sustainability is a key focus in the development of Qiddiya City. Both Aquarabia and Six Flags Qiddiya City are committed to sustainable practices, including the use of recycled water for irrigation and cooling, advanced water filtration systems to minimize waste, and targeted recycling efforts to reduce landfill impact.
The announcement of Aquarabia follows a series of exciting developments in Qiddiya City, including a Gaming and Esports District, the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium, a motorsport track, and a Dragon Ball theme park, all poised to enrich the region’s entertainment landscape.
