In a significant gathering hosted in Abu Dhabi, the Minister of Commerce and head of the General Authority for Foreign Trade, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, led a crucial preparatory session with fellow Arab trade ministers. The assembly’s core objective was to unify and articulate shared Arab viewpoints and concerns in the context of the World Trade Organization (WTO) deliberations.
The assembly underscored the importance of aligning Arab negotiating stances on various WTO matters, and providing support to Arab nations on their path to WTO membership. Central to the meeting’s goals was the advancement of coordinated Arab initiatives, aimed at bolstering commercial interests and fostering diversified economies across the region.
This leadership role assumed by the Kingdom is a testament to its influential status within the global, Middle Eastern, and specifically Arab economic landscapes, having served as the coordinator of the Arab group at the WTO since 2011.
An indicator of the region’s robust trade activities is reflected in the impressive trade volume between the Kingdom and other Arab countries, which, during the first eleven months of 2023, amounted to approximately $76 billion.
