The business travel market in the Middle East and North Africa is expanding rapidly, outpacing global trends. In 2024, the sector reached $18.1 billion, with projections of annual growth above 6 percent into 2025. This surge reflects the region’s strengthening role as a hub for international business, fueled by economic growth, improved infrastructure, and digital advancements in travel services.

Travel activity peaks after Ramadan, with April and May among the busiest months for corporate journeys, signaling strong recovery and resilience in the sector. Looking ahead, the market is expected to climb to $270.8 billion by 2030, supported by rising domestic and international business ties, enhanced connectivity, and a steady influx of global companies expanding into the region.

Saudi Arabia Dominates Regional Business Travel

Saudi Arabia stands out as the top destination, accounting for 20 percent of all business travel within MENA. The country’s robust economy, especially in oil, finance, and technology, cements its appeal. Other major destinations for MENA business travelers include the United Kingdom, France, and India, each capturing about 10 percent of outbound trips, while Oman is gaining ground due to its growing trade influence.

Preferred Airlines and Travel Services

Regional airlines such as Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Turkish Airlines are the leading choices for business travelers, thanks to their strong global networks, premium services, and strategic hubs. Dubai continues to be a central gateway, offering frequent connections to major business cities. Demand is also rising for travel support services like visa assistance, ground transfers, and event bookings, highlighting a shift toward more comprehensive travel management solutions.

Blending Business and Leisure

A notable trend is the growth of “bleisure” travel, where business trips are extended for leisure. While the typical business trip lasts about two days, more travelers are seeking to combine work with relaxation. High-end accommodations remain in demand, with four- and five-star hotels making up over 75 percent of bookings. This blend of business efficiency and leisure is driving up overall travel spending and shaping new service offerings.

Future Outlook

The outlook for business travel in MENA is bright, with continued investment in infrastructure and digital transformation set to further boost the market. The region is on track to become a leading player in global corporate tourism by 2030. Governments are prioritizing connectivity and traveler experience, making MENA an increasingly attractive destination for international businesses and professionals.

With ongoing growth, rising demand for premium services, and the blending of work and leisure, the MENA region is poised to redefine the global business travel landscape in the years ahead.
