The Chilean administration has announced that a key Saudi Arabian official specializing in mining affairs is scheduled to visit Chile in July for a bilateral meeting in the capital city of Santiago.
The dignitary, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, has previously expressed to the media in March an interest in international lithium acquisitions, aligning with the country’s ambitions to penetrate the electric vehicle market.
“He will indeed be in Chile (in July) and has requested a meeting with the minister. However, the exact date of the encounter has not been determined,” conveyed the ministry via an email communication.
Insider information previously shared with the press on Thursday indicated that the impending visit is set to revolve around discussions of potential lithium investments.
Positioned as the second-most prolific lithium producer globally, Chile plays a pivotal role in the supply chain of this critical component for the batteries driving the electric vehicle revolution.
