The Saudi capital recently welcomed key figures in civil aviation for a significant conference aimed at reinforcing regional aviation safety. The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) played host to the 10th session of the Executive Steering Committee for the Cooperative Aviation Security Programme Middle East (CASP-MID).
The gathering was presided over by CASP-MID Chairman and GACA’s Executive Vice-President for Aviation Security, Mohammed Alfozan. International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Regional Director for the Middle East, Mohamed Abubaker Farea, was among the attendees.
Stakeholders from 10 countries, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Libya, Lebanon, Sudan, Qatar, Yemen, and Syria, joined the meeting. The event also saw representation from CASP-MID member states, ICAO, and international supporting organizations.
In his inaugural address, Alfozan outlined the agenda, which focused on pivotal issues in civil aviation security and the development of a collective vision. He warmly received Egypt and Qatar as new members of the program and stressed the significance of collaborative efforts in bolstering aviation security on both regional and international scales. His vision set a course towards ensuring a secure future for civil aviation.
The progress CASP-MID has achieved over the prior two years received praise from participants, who also recognized the Kingdom’s pivotal role in advancing regional aviation security. Member states and the program’s initiatives, which target the enhancement of security and the safeguarding of civil aviation from illicit acts, garnered unanimous support.
