The Jeddah Historic District Program, backed by the Ministry of Culture and facilitated by Al Balad Development Company—a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF)—has proudly inaugurated the first set of three heritage hotels in the Jeddah Historic District.
These hotels have undergone meticulous restoration and rehabilitation to maintain their distinctive architectural characteristics. This process was carried out in accordance with the highest international standards and UNESCO guidelines, which recognized Jeddah Historic District as a World Heritage Site in 2014. Al Balad Development Company will oversee the management and operation of these hotels, which are part of a broader initiative that includes 34 heritage buildings.
The trio of heritage hotels—Beit Jokhdar, Beit Al-Rayess, and Beit Kedwan—have been revamped with a contemporary approach while ensuring the conservation, upkeep, and promotion of Saudi heritage. Each edifice reflects the region’s historic narrative and presents a unique architectural style.
- Beit Jokhdar is noted for its elaborate wooden balconies, reputed to be among the largest in the area.
- Beit Al-Rayess features a design centered around a stunning courtyard, encircled by columns and stone arches.
- Beit Kedwan enjoys a prime location adjacent to Naseef Square in the bustling Al-Alawi Market.
Following the handover, these hotels will be run by Albalad Hospitality, an operational branch of Al Balad Development Company, with a commitment to delivering authentic and distinctive hospitality experiences. The hotels will exude the local cultural essence and dedication to heritage conservation, aiming to make the Jeddah Historic District an attractive destination for international visitors.
