In an impressive display of efficiency and growth, the King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam has set a new benchmark in its operational history. This February, the port has seen a remarkable 25.41% increase in cargo handling, totaling 235,820 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs), soaring high above the previous February’s count of 166,956 TEUs.

This landmark figure not only represents the highest monthly throughput for the port but also signifies the successful initiatives undertaken by the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) to bolster the port’s productivity and enhance its operational and logistical prowess.

The detailed statistics reveal that the port processed 142,673 TEUs of incoming containers, marking a substantial 48.95% increase from the preceding year. Additionally, outbound containers witnessed a 24.67% rise, with figures reaching 86,250 TEUs compared to the previous 69,184 TEUs.

Ship traffic experienced a meteoric rise of 247.46%, with the total number of ships docking at the port escalating to 6,897, a significant leap from the 1,985 vessels recorded in the same period last year.

The port’s remarkable capabilities are highlighted by its 43 fully operational berths and its capacity to manage up to 105 million tons of goods and TEUs. Equipped with specialized stations, cutting-edge equipment, and modern machinery, the port is adept at handling a variety of cargo types. This aligns with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS), which aims to cement the Kingdom’s status as a pivotal global logistics hub strategically connecting three continents.
