Lloyd’s Register (LR) has secured a contract with the Saudi General Ports Authority (Mawani) to enhance management systems and prepare for certification at four major Saudi ports. This initiative aims to boost operational efficiency and solidify Saudi Arabia’s role in global trade.

This collaboration is part of Mawani’s strategy to improve port operations and increase international market exposure, ultimately promoting national export growth.

LR will assist in creating comprehensive manuals and guidelines, including quality and environmental procedures, aligned with International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards.

Over a 14-month period, LR will offer advisory services to Jeddah Islamic Port, King Abdulaziz Port, Yanbu Commercial Port, and Jubail Commercial Port.

The project includes support for management systems, ISO 9001/14001 certification, Port State Control processes, and personnel training.

Custom training programs will be provided to port staff, focusing on ISO standards and the latest safety protocols. Advanced digital solutions will be introduced to enhance sustainability and operational efficiency.

James Frew, Business Advisory Director at LR, remarked, Saudi Arabia’s 2030 Vision aims for a thriving, sustainable economy. Our partnership with Mawani will ensure compliance with international standards, supporting the Kingdom’s ambition to become a major trading hub.
