Saudi developer Red Sea Global (RSG) has awarded over 600 contracts worth $6.13 billion for the AMAALA project, aiming to welcome its first guests by 2025. The company, owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, has partnered with firms like Al-Rawabi Hassan Allam, Shapoorji Pallonji Group, and DEPA Group to develop a luxury tourism destination on the Red Sea coast.
RSG’s partners align with its vision of creating luxury and wellness destinations through responsible development and collaboration with local communities. John Pagano, RSG’s CEO, emphasized the project’s progress, which includes resorts, immersive experiences, and essential infrastructure, all developed with sustainability and regenerative principles.
Upon completion, AMAALA will feature nearly 4,000 hotel rooms across 30 hotels, luxury villas, apartments, and estate homes. The project is a key part of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to diversify its economy, with contracts covering construction, infrastructure, and utilities.
Significant progress has been made at key sites like Triple Bay Marina Village, where structures such as the Equinox Resort and Village Boutique Hotel are nearing completion. Other features, including the AMAALA Yacht Club and the Corallium Sea Marine Life Institute, are also advancing.
RSG’s capital spending focuses on wellness offerings, including resorts like Jayasom and Clinique La Prairie, and luxury hotels such as Rosewood, Six Senses, and Four Seasons, all set to open by 2025. The entire AMAALA project will be powered by solar energy, supporting Saudi Arabia’s environmental goals.
Primary infrastructure works, including 35 kilometers of roads, power, water, irrigation, and communications systems, are nearing completion, with energization planned for December. Additionally, RSG plans to plant 3 million trees and shrubs to enhance public spaces and landscaping by year-end.
The Ministry of Health has approved the design for the AMAALA Hospital, which will provide healthcare services to residents and visitors across the 4,200 sq. kilometer destination.
