A pioneering industrial collaboration is set to elevate Saudi Arabia’s standing in the global advanced technology manufacturing sector. The King Salman Energy Park (SPARK), strategically situated between Dammam and Al-Ahsa, is gearing up to house a new 20,000 square meter facility dedicated to producing critical systems. This venture is a result of an agreement with Schneider Electric, a company at the forefront of the digital transformation of energy management and automation.
The focus of the new facility will be on the manufacture of key systems including Distributed Control, Emergency Shutdown, and Compressor Control Systems. These developments are integral to strengthening the energy value chain within Saudi Arabia, supporting the nation’s ambitious Vision 2030, which seeks to foster technological innovation and spur economic diversification.
Schneider Electric’s establishment of this manufacturing hub is a testament to its investment in the Saudi market, reflecting a commitment to support local customers and stakeholders. Furthermore, it aligns with SPARK’s initiative to localize industrial services and bolster its portfolio in the realm of industrial control and safety solutions.
SPARK’s President and CEO, Saif Al Qahtani, has welcomed Schneider Electric’s decision to set up their facility within the energy park. He underscored the collaboration’s potential to enhance local product and service offerings, backed by superior infrastructure that aims to propel client businesses and contribute sustainable value to the community.
From Schneider Electric’s perspective, Mohammed Shaheen, the Cluster President for Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Bahrain, highlighted the partnership’s strategic importance. It is anticipated to significantly impact Saudi Arabia’s energy sector by fostering a robust service localisation and creating a top-notch ecosystem that will facilitate community welfare and the growth of enterprises.
Slated for completion in the third quarter of 2025, the project is also seeking Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building certification. This globally recognized standard underscores a commitment to environmentally responsible and resource-efficient construction practices.
In a move that further reinforces Schneider Electric’s dedication to the region, the company obtained a license in November 2023 from Saudi’s Ministry of Investment and the Ministry of Commerce. This license will allow the establishment of a Regional Headquarters in Saudi Arabia, overseeing operations in Bahrain, Yemen, and Pakistan, thus solidifying the company’s regional presence. Schneider Electric’s investment in local capabilities and innovation is aligned with its strategy to be a global player with a localized approach, customizing solutions to meet market-specific demands.
