Saudi Arabia has made significant discoveries in its natural gas sector. The Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, revealed that Saudi Aramco, the national oil company, has found two new natural gas fields in the Empty Quarter region.

The newly discovered gas fields are named Al Hiran and Al Mahakik. The Al Hiran field has seen gas flow from the Hanifa reservoir in the Al Hiran – 1 well, at a rate of 30 million standard cubic feet (MMSCF) per day, along with 1,600 barrels of condensates daily (BCPD). Additionally, the Al Arab – C reservoir in the same field has produced gas at a rate of 3.1 MMSCF per day. On the other hand, the Al Mahakik field has witnessed gas flow from the Al Mahakik – 2 well, at a rate of 0.85 MMSCF per day.

In addition to these new discoveries, natural gas has also been found in five reservoirs within previously discovered fields. The Jallah reservoir in the Usaikerak field recorded a gas flow rate of 46 MMSCF per day. Another natural gas reservoir was discovered in the Shadoun field, west of Haradh, with gas flowing from the Unayzah – A reservoir at a rate of 15.5 MMSCF per day, along with 460 BCPD. The Unayzah B/C reservoirs in the Mazalij field produced gas at a rate of 14 MMSCF per day, along with 4,150 BCPD. Additionally, natural gas was discovered in the Al Sarah reservoir in the Al Wadhihi field and the Al-Qusaibah reservoir in the Awtad field, with gas flow rates of 11.7 MMSCF per day and 5.1 MMSCF per day, respectively, along with approximately 57 BCPD.

This significant discovery will play a crucial role in expanding Saudi Arabia’s natural gas reserves and enhancing its position in the global energy market.
