The Ministry of Energy in Saudi Arabia has heralded a significant stride in the nation’s energy sector with the successful introduction of Euro 5 standard clean diesel and gasoline across its markets, marking a departure from earlier fuel types. These advanced fuels are designed to be compatible with all modes of transportation, and are part of the Kingdom’s ambition to supply fuels that are not only highly efficient but also produce lower emissions, thereby fostering environmental sustainability and aligning with the goals of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.

As part of its strategy to diminish emissions and reach a ‘net zero’ status by the year 2060, the Kingdom has adopted the Circular Carbon Economy (CCE) model. This initiative underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to global environmental protection efforts, while continuing to be a steadfast provider of energy internationally.

The introduction of these new fuel options is in line with the ‘Saudi Green Initiative’ and the ‘Saudi Energy Efficiency Program,’ which have played pivotal roles in setting the Saudi ‘CAFE’ standard. This standard is focused on boosting fuel efficiency in vehicles and spurring automobile manufacturers to integrate cutting-edge energy-saving technologies into the vehicles they export to the Kingdom.
