The Qiddiya Investment Company has revealed plans for a new, avant-garde racetrack situated within the environs of Qiddiya City. This circuit is set to redefine the realm of motorsport within Saudi Arabia by positioning itself as a premier global destination for racing aficionados.
The circuit, named the Speed Park Track, melds practical design with cutting-edge technology, promising an unparalleled customer journey. The company’s announcement indicates that the track will play host to a variety of esteemed international racing competitions.
Among the track’s notable features is the “Blade”, a striking elevated track segment that soars over 20 stories, creating a dramatic visual and racing experience.
“The Speed Park Track will not only reflect Qiddiya’s ethos of play but will also establish the city as the epicenter of Saudi motorsport and a leading global motorsport destination,” remarked Abdullah Aldawood, Managing Director of Qiddiya Investment Company.
The design of the circuit is a collaboration between Austrian ex-Formula One racer Alex Wurz and German track designer Hermann Tilke. The track challenges drivers with 21 turns and leverages the natural topography of Qiddiya City to achieve an impressive elevation change with each lap. With its versatile layout, the track includes both a street circuit and a high-speed track section, complementing the surrounding leisure and cultural attractions.
Spectators will be privy to an exhilarating and immersive racing spectacle, with multiple viewing points and terraces that offer an up-close experience of the action.
The Speed Park Track is surrounded by a plethora of adrenaline-pumping activities and events, marrying the excitement of motorsport with the dynamic atmosphere of entertainment centers, all under the banner of Qiddiya’s power of play philosophy.
The design ingeniously integrates the racetrack with nearby attractions, such as having the “Blade” turn overlook a music venue and portions of the track run adjacent to a water theme park, enhancing the overall experience.
The concept of play, as promoted by Qiddiya, draws from extensive research highlighting its essential role in fostering human development across cognitive, emotional, social, creative, and physical dimensions. It also emphasizes play’s social benefits, such as fostering empathy and community cohesion.
This announcement follows the introduction of the Qiddiya Gaming & esports District and the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium, with additional developments expected to be announced shortly.
