In the burgeoning metropolis of Qiddiya near Riyadh, the Qiddiya Investment Company, supported by Saudi Arabian funds, has announced its ambitious project: the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium. This state-of-the-art sports and entertainment facility is set to accommodate 45,000 visitors and aims to become a pivotal venue for the nation’s premier cultural and major sporting events.

Perched atop a cliff, the stadium is not just a venue but a future landmark that seeks to embody the “Power of Play” philosophy central to Qiddiya City’s vision. The commitment to innovation and the spectator experience is evident in the design elements, including a retractable roof and a dynamic LED wall that allows the space to seamlessly adapt to various events.

Our ambition is for Qiddiya City to become a global destination for entertainment, sports, and culture and this iconic new stadium will be at its very heart. The futuristic venue aims to reinvent the traditional stadium concept and embody the true spirit of Qiddiya’s Power of Play philosophy. It uses state-of-the-art technology and innovative, world-leading design to put the spectator at the center of the experience, stated a spokesperson for the project.

The stadium is also planning to revolutionize fan engagement with cutting-edge holographic technologies that offer virtual interactions, enhancing the live event experience with real-time data and information.

In response to the region’s intense summer heat, the venue incorporates a novel approach to climate control, utilizing a specialized cooling lake situated beneath the stadium. This eco-friendly system will collect rainwater to pre-cool air, ensuring year-round event hosting capabilities.

Beyond the stadium, the larger urban entertainment district of Qiddiya City will feature a Gaming & Esports District, along with 50,000 square meters of retail, dining, and entertainment options, supplemented by diverse hotel accommodations.

Upon its opening, the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium is set to become the proud home of the Saudi Pro League football teams Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr. It is also a candidate venue for the 2034 FIFA World Cup and may host other prestigious tournaments such as the Saudi King Cup, the Asian Cup, and possibly the 2034 Asian Games.
