The President of the UN International Civil Aviation Organization Council, Salvatore Sciacchitano, recently lauded Saudi Arabia for its influential role in the global aviation landscape.

In his remarks at the third annual Future Aviation Forum (FAF 2024) held in Riyadh, he commended the unwavering support provided by the Saudi leadership to the aviation sector. The forum, which ran from May 20 to 22, revolved around the theme of ‘Elevating Global Connectivity’ and was spearheaded by the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA).

Sciacchitano also drew attention to the Saudi Vision 2030, acknowledging its significant focus on bolstering the aviation industry. He envisaged that the continued efforts of the global civil-aviation system would be crucial in the coming decades and that the Kingdom’s hosting of FAF 2024 is a testament to its commitment to enhancing global communication.

Furthermore, he highlighted Saudi Vision 2030’s objectives and the critical role of the transportation sector in shaping the future of the country. Sciacchitano also recognized the Kingdom’s alignment with international priorities, including the pursuit of fuel sustainability and the goal to achieve net-zero emissions. He pointed out ICAO’s dedication to fostering international cooperation, particularly in investment opportunities to aid developing countries in meeting their needs.

In conclusion, Sciacchitano praised the exceptional strides made by Saudi Arabia in reducing carbon emissions, underscoring the Saudi Green Initiative and its ambitious programs aimed at accomplishing this feat.
