In a significant development for the industrial landscape of Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) has announced a series of new projects worth more than SAR538 million. These initiatives are set to unfold across six industrial cities in collaboration with domestic companies, aiming to create a robust value chain and enhance the local content.
The move is a key part of MODON’s strategy to establish a dynamic investment climate that resonates with the expectations of stakeholders within the industrial domain. This approach is in line with the organization’s overarching goal to boost the private sector’s role in diversifying the nation’s income streams, a vision that is encapsulated in both the National Industrial Strategy and the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NDLP).
Key among the new ventures is the construction of 80 factories and facilities for ready-made products in the industrial cities of Al-Ahsa and Taif, as well as the MODON Oasis in Al-Ahsa. These units, varying between 350 and 450 square meters, are designed to streamline business operations, thereby aiding entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to increase their contributions to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), consistent with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
In addition to these projects, MODON has sealed deals for the creation of sophisticated infrastructure that will span over 5.7 million square meters within the Hail Industrial City’s eastern expansion and Al-Madina Al-Munawwara Industrial City. These initiatives are expected to maintain continuous production processes and adhere to the stringent industry standards prevalent in these zones.
MODON is also focusing on enhancing the fundamental services within these industrial cities. This includes the rollout of medium and low voltage networks in Taif Industrial City and the establishment of a conversion plant in Tabuk Industrial City, initiatives that promise to improve operational efficiency and production capabilities.
Moreover, the authority is dedicated to improving transportation links. It has signed a contract to construct a new road that will connect the Dammam Third Industrial City with the King Salman Energy Park (SPARK), thus ensuring smooth integration and making the most of SPARK’s logistical services and the planned dry port. Additionally, MODON has agreed to set up a civil defense station to boost the safety of the industrial cities and their neighboring areas.
Continuing its commitment to the development of comprehensive infrastructure and support for industrialists, MODON offers enhanced land and prefab factory products throughout its industrial cities in the Kingdom. These actions are aligned with its mission to promote balanced development and capitalize on geographic, human, and structural benefits while encouraging private sector engagement and enduring economic growth.
As the custodian of integrated industrial land development and overseer of private industrial complexes and cities, MODON seeks to raise the bar for the investment environment, aiming to fulfill the standards of the Quality of Life Program, nurture entrepreneurship, and foster SME expansion. With a portfolio that includes over 209 million square meters of developed areas, 6,443 factories, and 1,323 ready-made factories, MODON ranks among the most extensive industrial city operators globally, utilizing its array of industrial, investment, and logistical resources.
