The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has been honored with the prestigious accolade of ‘Best Contributor to Economic Infrastructure Development’ at the International Finance Financial Awards in Dubai. This commendation is a nod to the authority’s dedication to enhancing port infrastructure and drawing in substantial investments.
In the previous year, Mawani embarked on significant upgrades, including the commencement of work on two container terminals at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, backed by an investment surpassing SAR7 billion. The authority also unveiled strategic projects at Jubail Commercial and Industrial Ports to amplify their capacity.
Moreover, Mawani has made strides in bolstering the logistics sector by sealing agreements and launching logistics parks and hubs, amassing investments over SAR6 billion. These initiatives are aligned with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, aiming to present lucrative opportunities to the private sector.
With the vision to reinforce global trade and cement the Kingdom’s stature as a pivotal international logistics hub, Mawani has streamlined export and import processes, upgraded logistics services, and forged partnerships with leading international shipping lines. This resulted in the introduction of 28 new maritime services in 2023, connecting Saudi ports with global counterparts. Additionally, Mawani has entered into several pacts with international ports and national entities across both the public and private sectors to elevate Saudi ports’ profile in the maritime transport industry on a regional and international scale.
The award is a reflection of the international and regional acclaim Mawani has garnered for its contribution to the maritime sector. Over the course of the last year, Mawani has been the recipient of seven awards on both regional and international stages, including ‘Best Port’ for Jeddah Islamic Port, ‘Brand Award’, ‘Port of the Year’, ‘Excellence in Customer Experience’, and ‘Advanced Ports Infrastructure’.
In addition to these honors, Mawani clinched two categories in the ‘NIDLP Excellence Award 2023’: ‘Best Entities Achieving International Accomplishments’ and ‘Best Entities Achieving Investments’. These awards are a testament to Mawani’s substantial impact, which has seen the Kingdom soar in global rankings for container handling, moving from 24th to 16th, as per Lloyd’s List 2023 top 100 ports.
