The Saudi Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, engaged in a strategic dialogue with the UK’s Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Claire Coutinho, in Riyadh. The bilateral meeting highlighted the strong relations between Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom, focusing on the energy sector’s prospects and future opportunities.

The discussions were framed within a memorandum of cooperation, with both sides examining the potential for partnership in areas such as clean hydrogen, where they delved into the development of standards aimed at reducing emissions. Crucial talks also took place around the creation of robust regulations and policies for carbon dioxide capture, transport, and storage.

On the agenda were exchanges of expertise in localizing energy components and the development of related regulations. The Kingdom’s dedication to combating climate challenges was evident, with references to its initiatives like the Saudi Green Initiative and the Middle East Green Initiative, alongside contributions from the Oil Sustainability Program.

The meeting also broached the subject of bolstering cooperation across renewable energy, petrochemicals, power generation, and the domestic energy sector. Both nations expressed eagerness for their respective companies to partake in an array of projects within these domains.
