The Chief Executive Officer of Jeddah Airports Company, Mazen Johar, has shed light on the recent enhancements made to streamline passenger services during the high-traffic Umrah season, which runs from Ramadan to the 9th of Shawwal. These improvements have been pivotal in speeding up the Umrah travel process and diminishing wait times for the increased number of pilgrims in the airport lounges.
During this period, Jeddah Airport handled an impressive volume of traffic, with the arrival and departure of over 5.38 million passengers via approximately 32,200 flights. The operational efficiency extended to baggage handling, with around 5.3 million pieces of luggage processed. Additionally, the airport managed a substantial amount of air cargo, totaling about 47,000 tons.
In a record-setting achievement, the airport saw its busiest day on the 20th of Ramadan, successfully servicing close to 160,000 travelers in a single day. This milestone underscores the airport’s commitment to managing the surge in religious tourism with excellence and efficiency.
