Study Shows Majority of Saudis Visit Entertainment Venues
Saudi entertainment and culture venues attracted the vast majority of the population in the past year, according to official statistics. Cinema, national events, and football were popular, along with various cultural activities.
The General Authority for Statistics released a bulletin of culture and entertainment statistics from mid-2022 to mid-2023. The results showed that 80% of the total population of the Kingdom (15 years and older) has visited one of the venues of cultural events or activities, while 90% of the total population has visited one of the venues of the events or entertainment activities.
Some key findings from the bulletin include:
- 13% of individuals attended national celebrations.
- 11% of individuals visited cinemas.
- 39% of Saudi individuals visited a Saudi entertainment season, while 36% of non-Saudi individuals did the same.
- 20% of individuals did not visit cultural events and activities, with 40% of them citing a lack of time as the reason.
- 23% of individuals engaged in walking activities, while 19% spent their leisure time playing football.
- 37% of individuals read at least one book in the previous 12 months, with 21% reading newspapers and 7% reading magazines.
The bulletin provides insight into the visited places and cultural and entertainment activities practiced by individuals (15 years and over) based on the results of a survey conducted by the General Authority for Statistics in 2023.
