Türkiye is advancing its expansive $300 billion infrastructure initiative by seeking closer collaboration with regional partners. At a major transport forum in Istanbul, Saudi officials invited Turkish firms to participate in key projects aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, signaling a renewed commitment to joint development.
During the event, Türkiye’s Minister of Trade Omer Bolat highlighted that extensive investments in transport and infrastructure have significantly boosted the nation’s GDP and per capita income. He emphasized the critical connection between logistics, trade, and economic growth, underlining Türkiye’s ambition to serve as a pivotal link between Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Central Asia through its modernized transport networks.
Bolat also pointed out the strategic importance of global transport corridors, such as the Suez Canal and the Turkish Straits, noting that disruptions in these routes can have far-reaching economic impacts. Projects like the proposed Istanbul Canal are seen as vital for maintaining Türkiye’s central role in regional commerce.
The forum also addressed the necessity of preparing infrastructure for crises, with Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu urging proactive planning for emergencies.
