The Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB) is poised to conduct its momentous 2024 Annual Meetings alongside the celebration of its 50th anniversary. The events, which are scheduled to occur in Riyadh from April 27th to 30th, will be conducted under the esteemed Royal Patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud. This year’s theme, “Cherishing our Past, Charting our Future: Originality, Solidarity, and Prosperity”, signifies IsDB’s half-century-long commitment to enhancing socio-economic progress across its member nations, as detailed in a recent IsDB announcement.
Recognized as a leading institution in South-South cooperation, the IsDB Group’s 2024 Annual Meetings and Golden Jubilee are set to draw significant international and regional focus. The lineup includes a plethora of ancillary events featuring distinguished panelists from diverse sectors such as government, global and regional entities, the corporate sphere, academia, and non-profit organizations.
Key economic figures, including Ministers of Economy, Planning, and Finance from the Bank’s 57 member states, will be in attendance. The event also expects participation from a broad spectrum of stakeholders, such as international finance bodies, Islamic banks, corporate entities, development finance organizations, NGOs, commerce chambers, and business councils. The meetings aim to fortify economic ties among member countries and enhance partnerships with attending financiers.
The Golden Jubilee marks a pivotal milestone for IsDB, commemorating a relentless journey of collaboration and impactful change spanning five decades. This journey originated in Riyadh with the IsDB’s very first Board of Governors meeting, attended by the then-Governor of Riyadh, HRH Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.
An array of forums, seminars, and discussions will unfold during this historic event. Notably, there will be the Governors Roundtable Meeting, the 18th IsDB Global Forum on Islamic Finance, the 2024 Private Sector Forum, sessions on the role of SMEs in Saudi Vision 2030, strategies to enhance financing for SDGs, leveraging Islamic Finance for sustainable infrastructure, the Arab Coordination Group Forum, and a symposium on future visions, along with the General Assembly for the Federation of Consultants from Islamic Countries (FCIC).
