Riyadh Gears Up for the SnowBlast KSA Cup

A Winter Extravaganza of Skiing and Artistry

The city of Riyadh is set to become a hub for winter sports enthusiasts with the upcoming SnowBlast KSA Cup, a premier event that combines the thrill of snow skiing with the flair of creative performances. As part of the acclaimed Riyadh Season, this event is poised to deliver a unique blend of sportsmanship and entertainment.

Scheduled to take place in the last week of February, from the 26th to the 29th, the SnowBlast KSA Cup will be the first of its kind in the region, marking a significant milestone with the introduction of snow skiing sports to Riyadh.

The competition is expected to draw visitors with an array of exclusive winter experiences, aiming to foster the sport’s popularity and pave the way for both local and international skiing contests. The event will showcase a lineup of skiing and snowboarding talent, featuring the participation of 30 world-renowned and Olympic skiing champions.

A massive setup, boasting over 500 tons of snow, will create a slope that extends 150 meters in length, soars 30 meters high, and spans nearly 20 meters across.

Throughout the SnowBlast KSA Cup, competitors will have the opportunity to execute three jumps, with the scores of their top two jumps contributing to their final result. Spectators can track the athletes’ scores in real time on large displays, while enjoying bilingual commentary in both Arabic and English.

The event isn’t just about the competition; it’s a full-fledged winter festival with activities beginning at 4:00 PM, suitable for families and children. Attendees can engage in snowball fights, snowman crafting, enjoy simulated snowfalls, and partake in a variety of roaming winter-themed artistic and musical acts.

With 30 competitors, including acclaimed figures such as X Games victors, Olympic medalists, and national icons, the SnowBlast KSA Cup is a testament to the global appeal of winter sports. The event will also be overseen by an international panel of judges, specializing in freestyle skiing events.
